Pachmarhi's
natural glory lies in green,
nature's own color. Bridle paths
lead into tranquil forest
glades; groves of wild bamboo
and jamun, dense sal forests and
delicate bamboo thickets, the
fruit bearing mahua, aonla and
trees all lend their distinctive
color tones. The valley, ravines
and maze of gorges, sculpted in
red sandstone by wind and
weather a eons ago, add their
own colouring to this palette of
shades, and cascading waterfalls
flash silver in the sunshine.
Deep azure pools are hidden
delights which beckon swimmers
and paddlers, and everywhere
wildlife watchers will be
rewarded by fascinating glimpses
of the animals and bird kingdom.
Complementing the magnificence
of Nature are the works of man
,for Pachmarhi is also an
archaeological treasure house.
Cave shelters in the Mahadeo
hills contain an astonishing
wealth of rock paintings. The
bulks of these have been placed
in the 500-800 AD period but the
earliest Paintings are an
estimated 10,000 years old.:
Pachmarhi is surrounded by hills
so the weather is very pleasant
here throughout the year. The
temperature is never above 37
degrees during summers and below
7 degrees during winters. The
best season to visit this place
is between October and June, the
monsoon months being the best.

incessant murmuring sound, Handi
Koh's overhanging crags shelters
gigantic, undisturbed, bee hives
Tamiya
Tamiya is more beautiful than
Pachmarhi and is totally
unvisited by tourists. The
Sunset point at Tamiya is place
where you can sit for hours and
enjoy the setting sun. This
experience can not be matched by
any other thing. The stay at
almost a century old government
rest house and watching the
natural beauty of the Satpura
hills gives you a feeling that
there is nothing than the hills
in this world. You are bound to
be lost in the scintillating
beauty of the Satpura hills
here. Tamiya has a good and low
budget hotels. The PWD rest
house and the forest department
guest house have good
accommodation facility. To reach
Tamiya one can hire Jeeps from
Pachmarhi but there are private
and government bus services for
Tamiya.
Muktagiri
Situated 97 km. from Betul are
the Jain temples of Muktagiri.
They are 52 in number, out of
which some are rock-hewn. The

and attracts pilgrims from all
