Detailed Itinerary
Days : 1-2 Delhi
Red FortIndia’s capital city is
a great place to start our
adventure. We explore the
bazaars and markets of Old
Delhi, a perfect introduction to
the sounds and smells of India
and visit the Jama Masjid,
India’s largest mosque. Please
arrive by 6pm on Day 1 for an
evening meeting.
Day 3 : Agra and Taj
Mahal
Our first stop is Agra, home of
the Taj Mahal. This ‘teardrop on
the face of eternity’ with its
glistening white marble is
indeed a moving experience. We
also visit Agra’s impressive Red
Fort.
Days : 4-5 Chanderi
Arriving in Chanderi is to
become an instant celebrity, as
few tourists visit this
fascinating town. Ancient rock
paintings, Jain temples,
beautiful ruins amongst a
backdrop of rural India, cricket
games with the local school team
— anything is possible in this
very special place.
Days : 6-7 Orchha
We travel by jeep and tempo to
Orchha and experience a very
different side of India. A small
village situated on the banks of
the Betwa River, we spend our
time here walking within the
village’s many forts and
temples, enjoying a cool swim
and relaxing while meeting the
locals of this peaceful area.
Days : 8-9 Khajuraho
Heading east we travel to
Khajuraho to explore the famous
erotic temples. Built over 1,000
years ago the extravagantly
carved temples feature hundreds
of sculptures
depicting all
aspects of the Karma Sutra. We
visit Panna National Park to
look for the illusive Indian
tiger.
Day 10 : Chitrakut
Sprawling along the banks of the
Mandakini River lies Chitrakut,
with its ashrams, temples and
bathing ghats, is full of the
stories of the Ramayana. We join
the crowds of Hindu pilgrims as
we take boats on the river and
walk the bazaars.
Days : 11-14 Varanasi
Arriving in Varanasi, one of the
world’s oldest surviving cities,
it’s as if we have stepped back
in time to a mystical and
exciting world. We take a boat
trip on the Ganges past the
ghats, enjoy walks through the
myriad of narrow lanes in the
old city and take part in our
own sunset flower ceremony on
the river. In the afternoon of
Day 14 we take the overnight
train back to Delhi.
Day 15 : Delhi
Your trip finishes on arrival
into Delhi early morning on Day
15 with a transfer to our
starting point hotel. If you are
departing India today, it’s best
to book your flight for later in
the afternoon as train delays
often occur. Luggage storage is
provided and additional
accommodation in Delhi is also
available.
