Detailed Itinerary

Days 1–2 : Arrival at Delhi
Delhi is not only India’s capital but a food lovers haven. We take to cycle rickshaws to explore the spice bazaars, join the Sikhs in their Gurudwara for lunch and try one of India’s premium restaurants for dinner.

Day 3 : Agra
Akbar’s magnificent Red Fort dominates central Agra. Along the river set amid peaceful gardens stands the Taj Mahal — an icon of India and a Mughal splendour.

Day 4 : Rajasthan
Travelling into rural Rajasthan we make our way to the regal fort of Madhogarh for a night as guests of the royal family. Explore the village and end the day with traditional music and dinner on the palace rooftop.

Days 5–6 : Jaipur
In Jaipur we drive out to Amber, the old palace situated high on a ridge, and have the Two Faces of Indiachance to wander the many colourful bazaars in the city. You must try the delicious lassi — a local specialty and a Rajasthani thali.

Days 7–8 : Udaipur
Romantic Udaipur, city of palaces and lakes. We stroll the old city with its artisans, tribal jewellery, miniature paintings and rooftop cafes. A cooking lesson is followed by dinner at the famous Lake Palace hotel.

Day 9 : Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad has it all, mosques and bazaars, museums and markets as well as sumptuous Gujarati fare. We visit the Gandhi ashram, the Calico Museum and the internationally renowned Utensil Museum.

Days 10–12 : Mumbai
To arrive by train into India’s most charismatic city is to be mesmerised by the diversity Mumbai has to offer. Home of Bollywood, the Indian business elite, buzzing night spots and excellent seafood.

Days 13–15 : Goa
Goa, nurtured by the Portuguese for centuries, is a beautifully distinct region of India. Deteriorating cathedrals, coconut palms, villas, spice gardens and beachside cafes serving great Goan food.
