Balapur Taluka is located 23 km from Akola, the district headquarters. Here one will encounter an ancient fort, which was commissioned by Aurengzeb in 1690 and became an administrative centre under the Nizam. Surprisingly, the fort is in excellent condition and is worthy of a visit.
