Natural Diversity of the Budhhanikantha Area
This national park is a mountainous region, rich in genetic diversity, densely covered by subtropical rain forest composing rhododendron, birch, oak and orchid forest. Shivapuri is famous for birds watching. It harbors more than 250 species of birds including paradise fly catcher and many different kinds of mammals including leopard, beer, dear, antelopes etc.

Cultural Diversity
Budanil-Kantha is one of the most important spiritual holy land in Nepal. It houses the statue of sleeping Vishnu which is one of the largest icon carve in a huge monolith. The famous Shivapuri Baba's hermitage, Manichur Danda- a Buddhist sacred place, the great Vipasana Meditation Center, Budanil-Kantha Boarding School where the crown prince studied and dozens of magnificent Tibetan monasteries of various sects are also located here. The sacred spring of Bagh-duwat and Bishnu-Duwat from where the holy Bagmati and Bishnumati rivers flows, lies in the cradle of Shivapuri mountain.
