Amusement Parks

There are several amusement parks around the city for the amusement of children and adults alike.

Aladdin Water & Amusement Park

Amusement ParksRashid Minhas Road, (tel. 811-8487,811-8479,812-0921). Water Park Open: 2:00-10:00 pm; Entry Fee: Rs. 130/Male; Rs. 70/Female; Free for children under3years. Amusement Park Open: 4:00-11:00 pm. Entry Fee: Rs. 5/person.

Set to the theme from the Arabian Nights, Aladdin Water and Amusement Park is the latest recreational family park in Karachi. This exciting water and amusement adventure on main Rashid Minhas Road is centrally located for people from all parts of the city and accessible through public and private transport. The park has something for everyone, from some of the tallest slides to dogdem cars, along with a pirate ship in the middle of a lake to Ferris wheel etc. Eateries in the park include Mr. Big Mac and Bar-B-Q Tonite.

Jabees Funland/Dodgem Park

Jehangir Kothari Parade, Clifton, (tel. 572-817). Open: 3:00-11:00 pm.

Established in 1976, Funland is among the oldest of fun and amusement centers for children and adults alike. It is located close to Jehangir Kothari Cluster, near the Mausoleum of Saint Abdullah Shah Ghazi. Entertainment is provided at a modest rate making it available to all strata of society.

The Bowling Alley entered from Gate # 3, open 4:00 pm-12:00 midnight, is particularly popular with Karachi-ites.

The cool and refreshing breeze from the sea, along with several eating spots makes the visit to Fun land enjoyable.

Sindbad

Near old Casino Building, Clifton Beach, (tel. 586-5395). Open: 3:00-11:00 pm.

Located on the Clifton Beach, Sindbad has a separate section for small children. Another section is full of video games as well as other amusing games. Don't forget to sit in the Venturer. Single men without their families are not allowed admittance.

Dreamworld Family Resort

Adjacent Block R Gulshan-e-Maymar, off Super Highway, (tel. 635-0494 to 96; fax 635-0503). Open 3:00-ll:30pm. Membership Fee: Rs. 350,000 plus subscription of Rs. 1,100/month.

This unique resort is spread over 150 acres and just 20 minutes drive from Civic Centre (Gulshan-e-Iqbal). Dreamland offers a host of recreational facilities, such as 18-hole Golf Course, Tennis courts for day and night games. Go-cart Racing Track, Horse Riding School using trained horses. Archery Range, Clay Pigeon Laser Gun Shooting Range, Cricket Ground and Bicycle Tracks. Water Games and Sports include Artificial Sea Wave Pool, Water Lakes, and Water Slides which are said to conform to European Community Safe Standards for slides, while the activities of Pedal Boating, Aqua Cycling and Sailing and Canoeing can be carried out in the huge water lakes filled with filtered water. Other entertainments include a Quizrama held every Saturday, and feature films screened on a 350 sq. ft. screen. Indoor games include Billiards/Snooker and Table Tennis. Dining facilities are available in its large restaurant.

Entry into the resort is restricted to members only; visitors are allowed if accompanied by members.
