Charsadda is a a
town in the
Charsadda District,
in the North-West
Frontier Province of
Pakistan. It is
located 17 miles
from Peshawar.
History
Charsadda, the city
of Lotus, where Ijaz
Ahmad Khan hails
from, is thought to
correspond to the
ancient city of
Pushkalavati the
administrative
center of the area
of Gandhara.The
history of Charsadda
can be traced back
to the 6th century
BCE. It remained the
capital of Gandhara
from 6th century BCE
to 2nd century CE.
Many invaders
ranging from the
Persians, Alexander
the Great's Greeks,
the Mauryas, the
Greco-Bactrians, the
Indo-Greeks, the
Indo-Scythians, the
Indo-Parthians, the
Kushans, the Huns,
the Turks and the
Hindus have ruled
over this region at
different times of
history. It is
believed Alexander
the Greats army laid
siege to the city in
the third century
