Tariq Road Shopping
Tariq Road provides
a variety of goods,
worthy of Saddar
Bazaar. In addition
to shops selling
local goods there
are shops which sell
imported items as
well. Tariq Road is
frequented by people
living in immediate
vicinity, the
surrounding
cooperative housing
societies as well as
from other parts of
the city.
There are notable
individual shops and
bigger shopping
centers as well as
the usual kerb-side
stalls. The more
well known shopping
centers are listed
below:
Shopping Centers
Rabi Center,
situated at the
northern-most end of
Tariq Road, is made
up of a host of
stall shops selling
all kinds of fabric.
Yards of silks,
satins, chiffon,
organza and
embroidered fabrics
are to be found
here. There is also
a small shop called
Bareeze, which sells
excellent quality
chikan (broderie
anglaise) fabric.
Rabi Center is to
Tariq Road, what
Paradise Market is
to Saddar, and much
more. In addition to
the gold embroidered
"shaadi" (wedding)
fabrics, one can
also get good
quality cotton and
lawn etc.
On the opposite side
of the road is
Glamour One which
stocks a variety of
fabric lengths.
Dolmen Centre is
another shopping
mall, where one can
expect to find a
range of items. On
the ground floor is
the 'Virgin' music
store, where you
will find a good
selection of albums.
In addition to audio
cassettes, they also
sell CDs. Also on
the ground floor at
the corner is a shop
that sells beautiful
traditional khoosas
(traditional
embroidered shoes).
Other shopping
centers located in
the vicinity are
Shalimar Centre,
Tariq Centre, Mateen
Centre and Chawla
Centre which are
full of hundreds of
shops selling a
variety of gift
items, shoes,
artificial jewelry,
handbags and clothes
etc.
Choori Gall
The name of this
street is not really
Choori Gali (Bangles
Street). We are
naming it so because
of the countless
shops and stalls
there which sell
colorful glass
bangles. A paradise
for women during pre
Eid shopping days.
Many other shopping
centers in Clifton
and Defense also set
up stalls to offer a
variety of glass
bangles at the time
of Eid festivals;
bangles are a must
for women and young
girls during the
festive Eid season.
Other Shops
Shalimar is known
for its stock of
western clothes,
shoes, lingerie etc.
Shabbi's, Baby
Corner and Baby's
Own deal in
children's wear.
Arte is among the
first shops to stock
imported items such
as stuffed toys,
frames, cards,
posters and other
gift items. In
addition to these
shops, there are
many more shops in
and around Tariq
Road, which sell all
kinds of stuff.
